Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Year 4 camp concluded today and was another great success. Thank you sincerely to our staff team for organising and running a fantastic camp and getting everyone back home safely. We will give a full report in the next newsletter edition.

There is a lot of information in this week's edition of the newsletter so please take your time to note everything that is coming across the next few weeks.
Parent-teacher interviews (Monday 21 August)
Parent teacher interviews are planned for Monday 21 August after school in the school hall. Parents can book a time with their teachers on a first in basis.
- Bookings open on Monday morning at 10:00am
- Bookings close on Friday 18 August at 8:30am
How to make an on-line booking
- Visit: https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/login
- Follow the prompts to register your spot. If a spot is not available, this means it is already booked out to another family. You will need to use your email address so you cane receive a confirmation of your appointments.
The interviews are set for 10 minutes. Please arrive early and finish on time so the program can continue to operate smoothly.
Thank you in advance to parents and teachers for strengthening our partnerships.
Good luck to our P&C
Our P&C has been short-listed for the annual P&C Queensland awards. The announcement will be made tomorrow night at the gala dinner. Regardless of the outcome, I am already extremely grateful for the contribution to our school & community by such a fine executive and hope that they win recognition for this. They truly deserve it.
Sport at school
I have been very impressed with the sportsmanship and school pride shown by our children as they represent our school, particularly at interschool sport where we play netball, touch football, rugby league and basketball.

IMPORTANT! Electric scooters at school
Over the past year we have seen the growth of electric scooters at school. I was surprised to learn of legal requirements pertaining to the use of electric scooters with which we all need to comply.
The most significant issue for our children is the requirement for riders to 12 years of age AND be escorted by an adult. Essentially this will stop our students from using an electric scooter.
To give families time to make changes, we have set 31 August as the LAST DAY that electric scooters can be brought to school - unless families comply with the laws surrounding their use of course.
A full explanation of the requirements can be found at Queensland Transport .
Rules for personal mobility devices
A broad range of personal mobility devices can be used in Queensland. You must comply with the rules for personal mobility devices and the general road rules as they are classified as a type of vehicle.
- Children under 12 years of age must not ride personal mobility devices including electric scooters.
- A person between the age of 12-16 must be accompanied by a supervising adult while using the device.
- Remember, people of all abilities use our paths and not everyone can easily move around a device that might be blocking the path.
- Personal mobility device riders who break the road rules will be given the same fines as motorists, but will not accumulate demerit points.
Free dress day (Friday 18 August)
Our student council are organising a free dress this coming Friday 18 August. The colour theme is ORANGE to acknowledge Bullying No Way day. Our school will be completing activities each day to reinforce this message and we ask that families reiterate it at home. Please make a GOLD COIN donation to our student council on this day.
We use the definitions for the national bullying site (Click here) so please check here so that your message is consistent with ours.

If you require more information please email the P&C.
When changing over to School24 at the start of the year, we shared with School24 families feedback in regards to two main issued:
- The app not remembering you and having to log in each time
- The app not remembering card details and having to enter payment details every order.
School24 have advised that, based on our feedback, they have had both the IOS and Android apps updated and the "remember me" function for logging into the app should now be working.
If your app is still not doing this, please go into the app store / google play store and manually update your app. If, after doing this, the app is still not "remembering" you at log in, please email the P&C and we will log this with School24 who will then assist.
In relation to the feedback around the card details for payment not being remembered, School24 are also working on having this updated so these details can be saved. School24 have recognised that this is taking longer than they would like to rectify with their payment provider and, to show our families that they are committed to providing our school exceptional service, School24 have removed the parent cafe ordering fee until the remember credit details issue has been resolved.
Please email the P&C if you have any questions.
We thank School24 for their support and partnership with our school and community.
