We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we walk, live and learn, the Bullongin & Kombumerri people. We pay our deepest respects to Elders resting in the Dreamtime and to the Elders of today, who will continue to care, protect and nurture the Country that we gather on to learn and connect. We feel both privileged, and grateful to now be sharing and caring for the country on which we are living and learning.
Events, dates and times may change. Please check the school calendar regularly to keep updated.

Ambassador feedback (NATHALIE COTTE, Wakakirri Ambassador.)
Coomera Rivers State School delivered a truly impactful and original performance with Battle of the Brain. From the great opening to the fantastic ending, I was genuinely super impressed. The glove choreography was especially effective—so powerful and symbolic. Tackling the important topic of mental health, your students cleverly explored the brain’s response to stress and anxiety with confidence, clarity, and compassion. It’s clear that your involvement in The Resilience Project has shaped a deep understanding, and that came through in every movement. The choreography, symbolism, and storytelling were thoughtful and strong, demonstrating how regulatory strategies can help us maintain control. This was not only an amazing performance, but also an educational and inspiring one—a brilliant example of being Good at Learning and Good at Life. Congratulations on a meaningful and memorable Wakakirri journey!
Schools from all over Queensland have been performing their dances across this week. And now we wait until Monday to find out if the Coomera Rivers Wakakirri team have made it through to the State Finals Awards Night. Chookas!

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Our Performing Arts department has been kept very busy this week, representing our school brilliantly well. Eisteddfod and 2025 Wakakirri performances were just amazing. I am just so proud of our talented performers and the staff team who prepared them. Our feedback was very impressive but for me, it is always the smiles, energy and excitement from the students, staff and families that makes these events so successful.
P&C meeting in Week 9
We always have a full program to report and discuss at our P&C meetings. On the agenda for discussion in Week 9 will be:
- 2026 Student Resource Scheme
- 2026 Learn to swim program changes
- The Resilience Project
- And more
The meeting will be via Teams. Please make sure that you update your Teams account so that you can access the meeting. Contact the P&C if you would like to listen in and have a say.
Wet weather strikes again
The wet weather this year has really been a challenge for us. It has affected nearly every event and activity that we have tried to run. Some events - and even school itself - have been cancelled while others have been modified due to the impact on our outdoor facilities. Inter-school sport was cancelled again this week due to the most recent rain event. Our school measured over 100mm of rain in the guage across the mid-week. It will take a few days of sunshine for things to dry out again.
We will continue to plan for our school events and keep our fingers crossed.
Have a lovely weekend
Vic
What a fantastic week of learning it’s been! A huge well done to these superstar students for giving their best, showing great effort, and shining bright in everything they do. Keep up the amazing work – you’re all awesome!

Chinese Speaking competition
Well done to students who represented Coomera Rivers and participated in the Chinese Speaking competition last weekend (and thank you to Mrs Huang for leading this with students). Congratulations to Ashtiva who placed 4th in the competition.

Celebrations of Learning
Year 3
Celebrating birthdays are always fun, especially when you have an awesome Café that can organise super dupers for you. After each break the students in 3L are welcome to grab a cushion in order to enjoy relaxing and calming down to classical piano vibes. This allows them time to be prepared for learning. We also have a GEM conversation each morning and afternoon, which allows us to discuss kindness, empathy, our emotions and being mindful for eg Anger is a normal emotion everybody feels. What is something you can do to help yourself when you feel angry? We also celebrated “Bullying No Way” day by wearing purple and discussed being an upstander instead of a bystander.
Year 4
The year 4 students have been working hard these past few weeks on their persuasive writing skills. This week, we have focused on the important issue of koala endangerment. Students have investigated why koalas are now classified as endangered and considered the actions we can take to help protect them. In addition to their writing, they have been developing their speaking skills as they prepare to present their persuasive speeches to the class. The students have shown wonderful passion and commitment to this important cause, and we encourage you to take the time to discuss their learning with them. They will no doubt have plenty of knowledge and ideas to share about how we can all make a difference in saving the koalas.
Year 5
This week Year 5 teachers invited families to visit their classrooms. Students have been busy creating persuasive writing texts. Our Open Day provided an opportunity for kids to share their ideas and writing strategies. Children brainstormed facilities and programs that they’d like to see implemented at Coomera Rivers State School. They’ve been working hard to convince our school community. Their school proposals included having a badminton club, soccer teams, yoga classes, a gaming room, cooking classes, swimming lessons and a mindfulness club. Students took the time to teach family members the use of acronyms including SPA, TREIL and PAC to successfully record persuasive scripts. Let’s see which initiatives are triumphant!

Year 6
This term, Year 6 students are learning to write persuasive texts and transform them into vlogs. This week, they explored the concept of juxtaposition and how to use it effectively to enhance their vlogs. Students practised creating their own juxtaposition images based on current global issues aligned with the Global Goals. They thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get creative and develop powerful contrasting visuals.
Concert bands performed well
Congratulations to our Junior Band and Senior Band who both performed at HOTA this week in their respective Eisteddfods. They were conducted by Mr. Donnelly and supported by Mrs. Ellison, teachers who are very proud of the way the students represented our school.
- Junior Band were awarded a bronze for their performance and
- Senior Band came back to school with a silver award.
Congratulations to all involved.

Pacifikai Program – Tongan Language Week
This week we celebrated our Tongan brothers and sisters as part of Tongan Language Week. Students were introduced to the traditional Tongan dance, Ma’auluulu, learning the cultural meaning behind the movements before practising and performing it with pride. Dance is a wonderful way to stay active and move, making the experience both fun and healthy. Students then took part in language challenges, such as matching English numbers to their Tongan translations, helping them to build both knowledge and appreciation of the Tongan language and culture.
Year 6 Signature Bear orders open
Each year we offer our graduating class the chance to purchase a signature bear as a memento of their time at Coomera Rivers.
The signature bears are available to order now via School24 with orders closing on Wednesday 17 September at 4:00pm.
If you do require a deadline extension you MUST email the P&C prior to the deadline to request one. Once the deadline has past, orders will then be arranged and personalised (with class of 2025 school logo) and will arrive in time to be distributed to class late in Term 4 with students offered the opportunity to have their bears signed by their peers and teachers before bringing them home.
If you require more information please email the P&C.
We would like to offer our Prep students the chance to create their own little masterpiece as a souvenir of their first year at school.
While saved artwork on paper can tear and fade, children’s art that is turned into any one of the products listed on the below flyer can be enjoyed for many years. And they make a great Christmas gift!
The items on the below flyer are available to purchase now through School24.
If you do require a deadline extension you MUST email the P&C prior to the deadline to request one.

It is the time of year for our annual uniform survey. Whilst we don’t produce or supply the uniforms directly, we work very closely with our supplier, The School Locker, and share feedback from our families with them.
This survey covers your feedback on our uniforms, dress codes, pricing and the service provided, helping us to ensure our uniform remains appropriate, affordable and comparable with other schools.
In addition to your feedback, we will also complete a price and uniform item comparison with other local schools. This helps us ensure that what our provider supplies in both quality and cost remains in line with other schools and providers.
Your feedback is an important part of this process, and we greatly appreciate the time you take to share your thoughts.
Please take a few minutes to complete this year’s survey by clicking here.
The survey is open now and closes at 4:00pm Friday 29 August.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Over the past few weeks at OSHC, our children had lots of fun engaging in a range of programmed and spontaneous activities.
In the hall, the children transformed into magic K-pop Demon Hunter dancers, releasing their powerful dance moves in a showcase for everyone in the hall. Dancing together gave the children a strong sense of belonging, as they supported each other, corrected mistakes with kindness, and celebrated their shared love for music. Children took the lead, proudly sharing the moves he has been practising, inspiring his peers to join in and express themselves through rhythm and movement.
For arts and crafts, the children did a magnetic painting experiment, which captured the children’s imaginations. The children used magnets to move metal pieces through paint, they created swirling, colourful artworks while marvelling at the science behind it. The activity encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity, proving that learning and wonder often go hand in hand.
The children invented a new game with mini lacrosse. They quickly picked up the basics and loved the excitement of one-on-one play. Their enthusiasm has sparked plans to extend this interest into small team games on the oval, encouraging strategy, teamwork, and active play on a larger scale.
In the garden, many children also enjoyed spending time tending to plants. Whether watering, weeding, or checking on new growth, they showed pride in caring for their environment. Gardening continues to be a calming and rewarding activity that fosters responsibility and connection to nature.
From dancing and painting to inventing new games and nurturing the garden, the past few weeks have been a celebration of imagination, community, and growth. We can’t wait to see what the children explore next!

Unfortunately, we have been unable to find an alternative date this year that is suitable for all providers to reschedule our recent Community Fair, which was postponed due to the weather forecast.
We are really disappointed that we haven’t been able to bring this fun, family, community event to you in 2025. However, we are already making plans for a new date in 2026 and look forward to making it an even bigger and better event for our school community.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.
Uniform Price Increase – Effective 1 October
Our uniform provider, The School Locker, has advised that there will be a uniform price increase effective from 1 October this year.
They have shared that these increases are unavoidable and are due to rising operational costs.
If your family is in need of any new uniforms, you may wish to make your purchases before this date to take advantage of current pricing.
